Cell number fraud can be detected‏

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced on Monday that it had launched a new service to help mobile users find out if any phone numbers are illegally registered under their names.

Director of the international affairs at public relations and spokesman of the commission Sultan Al-Malki said the free service is available to all subscribers of the three mobile service-providers. The service is automatically provided, by sending a text message.
Al-Malki said subscribers of the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) can type 9988 and send to the service number 902. They will immediately get feedback on other phone numbers registered under their names. He said subscribers of Mobily can send a blank message to the number 616166, while those of Zain can send a blank message to the number 700123.
The spokesman urged subscribers who discover illegally registered phones under their names to inform the respective companies immediately.
